Things to See and Do in Stehekin

While you could spend your whole visit to Silver Bay Resort relaxing in front of the fire, enjoying the hot tub, swimming in the lake, playing in the yard,  or taking in the views, there is plenty more to see beyond the property. Stehekin has plenty to offer for those that want a sweet treat or a little adventure! Within walking distance of several  "must see" Stehekin attractions, Silver Bay plays its role perfectly as  your quiet getaway or as your basecamp for exploring the incredible North Cascades.

Stehekin Bakery

Known for their world famous cinnamon rolls, the Stehekin Pastry Company is just a half mile away from Silver Bay Inn. Take a refreshing stroll to grab an espresso in the morning or fuel up with their savory options after a canoe ride on the lake! Their pastries and desserts are made in house, and their  ice cream is perfect for hot summer days. To get there from Silver Bay, walk down the gravel driveway until you get to the main road (the paved road). Take a left, and walk for a couple more minutes until you see the bakery and gift shop on your left. You will probably be able to smell the yummy pastries before you get there!

Rainbow Falls

A breathtaking 312-foot waterfall, Rainbow Falls is a must-see on your trip to Stehekin. Located just several hundred feet from the road, the lower falls viewpoint is wheelchair accessible,  allowing the  incredible views to be enjoyed by everyone in your crew. For those that want to climb a small hill, there is an additional view point with a much clearer view of the upper falls if you follow the trail to the left of the lower falls. There are several easy ways to get to the trailhead including a bike ride, side-by-side rental, or reservation with a tour bus.

Stehekin Lodge Restaurant

Just a few feet away from where you arrived in Stehekin is a full service restaurant operated by the North Cascades Lodge at Stehekin. They are typically open April through October with limited hours in the early and late seasons. During the summer months they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating is available with a great view of the lake to enjoy while you dine! The restaurant is just over a mile away from Silver Bay Resort so you can make an adventure out of it by taking a bike ride or casual walk to get there. The views are incredible the entire way so the mile flies by.

Stehekin Valley Ranch

Want to take your adventure a little bit further? Stehekin Valley Ranch offers a few activities that we do not keep on site at Silver Bay Inn. They offer horseback trail riding, mountain biking tours, guided hiking experiences and many more. Located about 7 miles past Silver Bay Resort,  the ranch is accessible by taking the shuttle bus that they provide from the Stehekin landing. The shuttle schedule alines with the arrival of both the Lady Express and the Stehekin Ferry, so plan ahead based on the ferry schedules.  Book on their website to see even more of the gorgeous valley!

The Garden

Located less than a 5 minute walk away from Silver bay Inn, the garden is the place for fresh picked, organic vegetables and fruit!  Depending on the season, you might also find honey, maple syrup, and goat cheese for sale. Walk down the gravel driveway until you reach the main road, take a right  and the garden will be right there on your left. Open 8-5 daily during the Spring and Summer, don't miss a walk through the garden!

Day Hikes

With all of its stunning views, it is no surprise that Stehekin is well known for its hikes and trails. There are many trails to choose from for all ages and experience levels. This is a great way to see more of the valley that you can't see from the road! Some popular trails include Agnes Gorge, Imus Creek Loop, Lakeshore trail, Stehekin River, Old Wagon Trail, and Rainbow Loop. Remember to exercise caution when hiking in the remote landscape of Stehekin, and plan ahead to avoid getting caught in unexpected weather.
